This Privacy Policy describes what data the Threshold Coach app (the "App") processes, where that data goes, and what we do and do not do with it.
What the App processes
When enabled in a community, the App processes:
- Post text and title from newly submitted posts in your community, at the moment of submission
- Your moderator-configured settings (rules, Sub Compact text, API key, reply mode, enabled state)
- Counters and a limited recent-flags list (post titles only, no usernames)
- The Google Gemini API key you provide
Where data goes
The App runs entirely on Reddit's Developer Platform infrastructure. Data flows are:
- Reddit → App: Post submission events are delivered to the App by Reddit's Devvit runtime.
- App → Google Gemini: Post text, post title, and your configured rules are sent to Google Gemini's API (
generativelanguage.googleapis.com) using your API key. Google's data handling is governed by Google's terms. - App → Reddit storage: Configuration, counters, and the recent-flags list are stored in Reddit-managed key-value storage scoped to your community.
- App → your community: When a flag fires, the App posts a stickied, mod-distinguished comment under the flagged post.
The App does not send data to any other third party. We do not operate any servers. We do not have access to your Gemini API key once you save it (it is stored in Reddit's encrypted settings).
What is NOT stored
- Usernames of posters whose posts are coached are not stored in any list or counter. The recent-flags dashboard shows post titles only, following Reddit mod tool privacy norms.
- Full post bodies are not stored. They are only passed through to Gemini at the moment of submission.
- Personal information about moderators beyond what Reddit provides through the standard Devvit context (subreddit ID, your settings) is not stored.
What you can do
- Uninstall: You can uninstall the App from your community at any time via Reddit's community apps interface. On uninstall, the App stops processing posts immediately.
- Disable: You can toggle "Enable Threshold" to off in Threshold Settings at any time. The App keeps your configuration but stops processing.
- Reset: You can clear your Gemini API key, rules, and Sub Compact through Threshold Settings.
Data retention
Configuration, counters, and recent-flags entries are retained in Reddit-managed storage until you uninstall the App or clear them via Settings. Coach run logs (per-post records of what was coached, used for the dashboard) have a 30-day TTL and expire automatically.
Children
The App is intended for use by adult Reddit moderators. It is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be communicated through the App's listing on developers.reddit.com or via an update to this page.
